Q: How do I get tickets to the Presidential Inauguration?
A: According to the Official Senate Inaugural site, you must contact your Senator or Congressional Representatives to obtain Tickets for the Inaugural swearing-in ceremony. These officials are responsible for their distribution in January 2009 by both Senators and Representatives of the 111th Congress.

It is also well-known that major contributors and donors to the campaign of the eventual winner of the Presidential Election receive coveted invitations to the gala events including teas, breakfasts, luncheons, concerts, ceremonies, balls and celebrations which occur not only on the official day of the Presidential Inauguration (January 20), but which also take place throughout the month of January while leading up to the Inauguration and the President's Ball.

In United States history, the inauguration and swearing in ceremony of John F. Kennedy and film highlights of the President's Ball featuring JFK and Jacqueline Kennedy remain among the nation's most favorite and revered.

Additionally, some charities and foundations are known to receive event tickets for use in order to raise funds for the charity. All donors, winners and purchasers of tickets, participants and guests must go through security screenings and background checks to be allowed into these exclusive events.

Inauguration Balls

The Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC)—established after the November election—is responsible for all balls and galas hosted in honor of the newly-elected President.

Inaugural Parade

Requests to participate in Inauguration day events for marching bands, marching units, mounted units, and other performers are collected by the Armed Forces Inaugural Committee. The Presidential Inaugural Committee, formed after the November election, selects the participants from the collected requests.

Further information and an application to participate in the parade and its festivities may be found at the Armed Forces Inaugural Committee.
